The safari takes you for chimpanzee tracking in Kibale National Park is the primates capital of the world that harbors the greatest variety and concentration of primates not found anywhere else. It is an extensive National Park, protecting a large block of a rainforest that offers some exceptional opportunities for Chimps trekking and bird watching which makes this forest ideal for primate watching safaris in Uganda. The local community plays an important role in conservation of the park. It’s also idea for a nature walk due to Bigodi wetland sanctuary a home of different bird species especially the great blue turacco and the other aquatic life found in the wetlands. The climax of the safari will be tracking the mountain gorillas from Bwindi Impenetrable forest National Park. Mountain gorillas are one of the most endangered species vanishing from the wild with half of its population residing in Uganda´s Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.

Detailed Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Travel to Kibale Chimpanzee Forest National Park:
InquireAfter early breakfast, have a half day drive west via Mityana to Fort Portal, passing though luxuriant countryside, traditional homesteads and farms. Pass through Fort Portal that rests in the shadows of Rwenzori Mountain “Mountains of the Moon” and Kibale National Park. Have dinner and overnight at a comfortable lodge.

 Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking, Bigodi Birding, Nature Walk:
After Breakfast, move into the Forest, for primate viewing but before the activity starts you will be briefed by a park ranger. The activity starts early in the morning at 8.00 a.m. A half day search for chimps and monkeys including phoestes, Red-Colobuses, Blue, Red-tailed and grey cheeked Mangabeys swinging through the impenetrable forest. You will also see varieties of birds, butterflies and many small insects. The ranger will provide detailed explanations on not only the primates, but also on all the forest’s fauna and flora, ensuring that your walk is both informative and enjoyable. After lunch, a visit to Bigodi wetland an eco tourism site is incredible as you shall encounter rare and beautiful aquatic life.

DAY 3: Travel to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park:
Have an early breakfast and depart from Kibale forest National Park. Have lunch en route and proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park for gorilla tracking.

DAY 4: Gorilla Tracking, Cultural Entertainment:
Mountain GorillaAfter an early morning breakfast and guide briefing, set off for your gorilla tracking in the forests of Bwindi. This Park is best known for the fascinating gorillas, where the time taken to find them and terrain varies according to the movements of these marvelous primates. Though the time spent to track down these Gorillas is unpredictable, the thrill of spending time and observing these gentle giant gorillas is a rare, moving, awesome and exciting adventure that will leave you with long lasting memories of a truly unique experience. The gorillas are shy and peaceful animals and it is an unforgettable experience to watch and photograph them as they play and interact.

A packed lunch, drinking water will be carried along as you track, comfortable boots or sturdy shoes, as well a light rain jacket are also important due to the unpredictable weather of Bwindi Impenetrable forest. Walking sticks will be available from the park rangers. For conservation purposes, time spent with the gorillas is limited to one hour. The ranger guide always briefs you on how to behave with these gentle giants. In the evening, proceed to the village for a cultural walk to interact with the local people. Participate in captivating traditional performances presented by Women’s groups or orphan children groups. Note that the fees you pay for these performances go directly to improve the welfare of families around the park.

DAY 5: Travel back to Kampala:
