This safari starts in Queen Elizabeth National Park – the home of  the famous tree climbing lions as well as the various antelope’s species, Topis, hyenas, crocodiles, waterbucks, elephants, baboons, hippos, buffaloes and more .It continues to Kibale National Park which harbors the greatest variety and concentration of primates not found anywhere else in East Africa. These include; the Phoestes, Red-Colobus, Blue, Red-tailed and Grey cheeked Mangabeys and so many others. A nature walk in Bigodi Swamp offers some excellent opportunities for bird watching like the great blue turraco, sunbirds and many more.

Detailed Safari Itinerary:

Day 1: Travel to Queen Elizabeth National Park, Launch Cruise:
Have an early breakfast and drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park following the magical Rwenzori Mountain range for much of the journey. After lunch, enjoy the exclusive 2-hour boat cruise on Kazinga Channel and into Lake Edward. This trip passes through possibly the highest concentration of Hippos and many animals will be seen drinking at the water’s edge. This launch cruise offers an exceptional platform for photography, bird watching and game viewing, ideal for the Uganda safari. The productive bird life is colorful and astonishing with well over 550 resident species.

Day 2: Game Drive en route to Kibale Chimpanzee Forest National Park:
An early morning game drive in this park provides excellent opportunities to see Lions, Leopards, Giant Forest Hogs, Cape Buffaloes, Elephants, Defassa Waterbucks, Uganda Kobs, Topis, Bush bucks and many more. Proceed to Kibale National Park and on the way you will be able to see an impressive view of the Fabled “Mountains of the Moon” that are in your clear view en route Fort Portal.

Day 3: Chimpanzee Tracking, Bigodi Swamp – Birding:
After Breakfast, we shall move into the Forest, for primate viewing. The activity starts at 8.00 a.m. A half day search for chimpanzees and other primates including Phoestes, Red-Colobus, Blue, Red-tailed and Grey cheeked Mangabeys swinging through the dense forest and birds, butterflies and many small insects. The guide will provide detailed explanations on not only primates, but also on all the forest’s fauna and flora, ensuring that your walk is both informative and enjoyable. After lunch, a visit to Bigodi swamp eco tourism site is amazing, as we shall encounter rare and beautiful flora and fauna. This walk is excellent for viewing different bird species like the Great blue Turacco, Rwenzori Turaco, Narina Trogon, and little Bulbul and so on.

Day 4: Visit the crater lakes region and return to Kampala:
Have an early breakfast and drive through the great rift valley region for a beautiful scenery due to the many crater lakes found their, and later proceed to Kampala having lunch en route.
